RSPB South Stack, Anglesey

Some time ago I won a Falconry day in a Charity auction down in mid Wales, and it has now been called off three times because of the rain.... what has this got to do with South Stack you might ask... well...
On the last occasion it was called off, Sharon and I were sat in McDonalds in Mold having breakfast on the way to the Falconry Centre, only to get a call telling us it was pouring down with rain there and it would have to be postponed again.... so we were sat in Mc'Ds at 7am on a Friday morning, the weather not great wondering what the hell to do!! Sharon suggested that I had mentioned a few times about visiting RSPB South Stack on Anglesey, so that was it, quick dash home to pick up the necessary gear and off we went. The weather was very wet driving there, but surprisingly for us it cleared when we got there, and we had a lovely but rather breezy walk along the cliffs, watching stacks of Razorbills and Guillemots in and out of their nests on the cliffs. It wasn't a great photography day, but still managed a few shots, but will be returning on a nicer day.... hope you enjoy!!

  3. Gary, great Razorbill series, though you may feel the weather was not the best, your bird images have this great saturation you would not otherwise have on a sunny day. The image with the Great Black Backed Gull is truly an amazing shot with its' rich landscape colors.

    1. THanks Mike, I was quite surprised considering the conditions, I do like the GBBG shot, I've seen them take chicks on TV but it was a bit surreal watching it happen in front of us!I am hoping Sharon will be painting it!

  6. Hi Gary :-) What a lovely blog you have here! I popped over yesterday but didn't have time to stay long. However, I have just had a very enjoyable rummage today and thoroughly enjoyed it. Your photos are beautiful!

The weather may not have been the best at South Stack but you obviously had a very pleasant visit and still managed some great photos.

Needless to say I will be following you and will visit as often as I can. Thank you so much for visiting and following me and for your very kind comments :-)
