Farne Island Puffins

Next post from last weeks trip to the Farne Islands, in all I must have took 500+ Puffin photos, I just love these little birds, they spend most of the year braving the high seas and come back to these Islands each year to breed and then head back out to sea. They are real enigmatic characters and such fun to watch, a difficult task choosing a set for the post but have tried to include a variety of shots.

When the Puffins land with beakfulls of eels they then have to escape the marauding gulls and get in their burrow before their catch is stolen

  2. Gary. Your shutter finger must have been worn out after your trip to The Farnes !! A fantastic collection of images covering every bird and especially your wonderful set of puffin images. All of course obtained in what looked like perfect conditions. I am jealous and may go myself later this month. Your wonderful images have inspired me. Excellent...very well done.
