The Red Deer Rut

One of the highlights of the Autumn for me is the Red Deer rut, I just adore these beautiful majestic animals, and the sound of a big stag bellowing really makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up!
There is no better place to see them than at Tatton Park, Cheshire. although it is quite intimidating stalking and creeping up on the big boys, they are so unpredictable when they are fighting for and to keep their hinds. Sharon and I came across some real big guys who had gathered big harems of hinds, but we didn't really see any big battles, what we did see where more like play fights! hopefully I will get back when the testosterone is really flowing!
