Reading various websites it was apparent Waxwings had arrived also in Preston city centre in good numbers this year, so in the hope of seeing some more after the previous weeks visit to Barrow I visited Ribble Bank Street where there are quite a few Rowan trees covered in berries, and after a bit of tracking down found a group of maybe twenty birds. But unlike the flock from Barrow these birds where quite skittish and only came down to the berries for short periods and the slightest disturbance sent them off into the higher tree tops. Nevertheless it was great to see them in such an urban environment and i managed some shots in what was a quite gloomy morning.
I have created this blog to basically record and share my photographic efforts on my wanderings, my hobbies being mountaineering and wildlife photography. I like to spend time in the Lake District where I am slowly trying to put myself on top of each of the 214 Wainwrights, not something I purposely set out to do but as I have gone on it seemed a good idea. Along the way I always have my camera with me, weather permitting! My other great passion is wildlife and photographing it, and more especially birds, and I try and visit as many sites as possible to get pictures, so my two hobbies sit nicely together, I hope you enjoy looking at my pictures, I don't claim to be an expert, far from it, but I like to think I am learning and my photos are improving.
Thanks for taking a look.
Gary :)
